NORTH MIAMI, Fla. (WSVN) — Police have arrested a man after he shot a woman in the face inside a South Florida restaurant bathroom.

The shooting took place just after midnight Monday inside the Denny's at 12105 Biscayne Blvd. in North Miami.

According to police, the woman and her ex-boyfriend, 35-year-old Sean Barnes, were arguing at the restaurant. When she left to go to the bathroom, Barnes followed her and shot her in the jaw.

Police arrived on the scene and questioned witnesses. Patrons were evacuated immediately as police investigated. "I came to get Denny's because I'm always eating here every night because I work right across the street," said Jean Berthelot, who works in the area.

The woman was airlifted to Jackson Memorial Hospital. Officials said she is in stable condition.

Restaurant goers are upset and feel unsafe. "It does bother me a lot. It's scary," said Berthelot.

A car was towed from the scene while police investigated. After the investigation was complete at the scene, police arrested Barnes later Monday afternoon.

Barnes has been charged with attempted murder.
