OPA-LOCKA, Fla. (WSVN) — A South Florida man was arrested after, authorities said, he bumped a police officer during a traffic stop and led police on a pursuit, Sunday afternoon.
According to Opa-locka Police, officers conducted a stop of a suspicious U-Haul truck in the area of Northwest 151st Street and 19th Avenue. The driver was later identified as Jean Philippe Pierre Antoine.
The chase came to an end near Southwest 19th Avenue and State Road 441 in Miramar, when Antoine and a passenger bailed out and fled on foot. Antoine was taken into custody but the passenger got away.
Antonie was transported to the Broward County Jail.
The injured officer was taken to the hospital and is expected to be OK.
