KEY WEST, FLA. (WSVN) - Monroe County will be conducting three, one-hour workshops on Zika for Florida Keys residents.

However, some locals plan to protest the test release of genetically modified mosquitoes.

The test release has been approved by the FDA, and locals are concerned.

The genetically modified mosquitoes will carry a gene preventing mosquitoes’ offspring from reaching adulthood.

There will be a meeting in Marathon, Tuesday, to discuss the release.
