FORT LAUDERDALE, FLA. (WSVN) - A worker was injured after he fell several stories from a Fort Lauderdale Beach building.
The man was painting a Fort Lauderdale Beach building, at the corner of Seabreeze Boulevard and Cortez Street, Monday morning, when the piece of scaffolding he was standing on collapsed, causing him to fall five stories.
The scaffolding hit a power line when it fell, causing a transformer to fail. As a result, many residents lost power. “It was a lot of crashing obviously, so you could hear the scaffolding falling, then I heard the transformer blow,” said Alex O’Rourke. “That’s essentially what got my attention because, over there, we’re working with power, and we went without power for a couple of minutes.”
The worker was transported to Broward Health Medical Center. Despite experiencing trauma-related injuries, he is expected to be OK.
