MIAMI (WSVN) - A domestic dispute between family members spiraled into violence at a Northwest Miami-Dade home, leaving one woman dead and sending her boyfriend and his stepson to the hospital with stab wounds.

Officials said the stabbing started as a fight among those involved near Northwest 95th Street and 31st Avenue, just after midnight, Saturday.

Speaking to 7News outside the home on Saturday afternoon, Daniel Rodriguez said his father was involved in the incident.

“I don’t know why he did it,” he said. “To me, he was going crazy or something.”

It is unclear who started the fight, but investigators said a knife was somehow involved.

Police said a 50-year-old woman died from her injuries.

According to Rodriguez, she was his father’s girlfriend, and the younger male victim is his stepbrother.

Paramedics transported Rodriguez’s father and stepbrother, ages 47 and 27, to Jackson Memorial Hospital in critical condition. They have since undergone surgery.

“I just – I want to see [my father] again,” said Rodriguez. “I don’t know why he did it. I don’t know what he did … I just know that I can’t see him. He’s in critical condition, and so is my stepbrother.”

Police said the stabbing took place in front of a 3-year-old child. The toddler was not hurt.

Shocked neighbors said they’re struggling to cope with the chaos.

“It was shocking to see that something like this happened,” said area resident George Williams.

“It was really sad that everything was going well, and days before the year’s ending, ending on a bad note. That’s not good,” said a woman who asked not to be identified or show her face on camera.

Williams said he knows one of the men involved and was floored when he found out what happened.

“He’s a very nice guy, always working, just home, smiling and always happy, willing to help” he said. “I told him about my car, he said, ‘Sure, I’ll come check it out.’ I wake up this morning and I hear about this, it’s devastating.”

Rodriguez said his father is a good person who is well-loved and respected in the community, but he may have just snapped. Now a woman is dead, and several questions remain surrounding the circumstances of this stabbing.

“Everybody just always loved him. He was a people person,” said Rodriguez. “There’s no way he would hurt somebody unless he felt he was harmed himself.”

Police have not specified whether or not they have made any arrests.
