Surveillance video captured the moment when a woman walked right up to the front door of a Fort Lauderdale home and swiped a package that didn’t belong to her.
It happened Tuesday afternoon, at a home along Northeast 17th Street and 16th Terrace.
“We knew a package was waiting for us by the front door, because we were notified by the post office that we had a delivery,” said the owner of the home, Jay Holloway.
Holloway was waiting for a camera he had ordered. However, when he got home, there was no package to be found. “So we immediately looked at the video, and sure enough, we saw a lady drive up and take our package,” he said.
The video shows the woman walking up to the front door, grab the package and walk off, all in a matter of seconds.
“I think it’s terrible,” said Holloway. “It’s a nuisance, and people need to be able to get deliveries to their houses while they work.”
The homeowner’s son also wants the woman who stole from them to hear his message. “I think she didn’t do the right thing for the community, and she shouldn’t do that,” said the boy. “She shouldn’t go around doing that.”
Holloway and his son are hoping police can track the woman down. “I think that lady should be caught,” said Holloway’s son, “and if she’s caught, I think she should pay my dad the money of the camera, the cost of the camera.”
If you have any information on this theft, call Broward County Crime Stoppers at 954-493-TIPS. Remember, you can always remain anonymous, and you may be eligible for a $3,000 reward.
