WEST PARK, FLA. (WSVN) - A van went up in flames before exploding in West Park, Friday morning.

The flames broke out near Southwest 44th Avenue and 36 Street.

The owner said he noticed fluid leaking from the van shortly before it exploded.

A window of a nearby home was blown out from the explosion, which sent debris flying throughout the neighborhood. “The fire was so bad, when firefighters got here, the one firefighter was starting to put it out when it actually blew him back,” said resident Louise Metz. “I guess from whatever they had in there, it blew him back.”

Firefighters believe an oxygen tank in the van caused the explosion.

One person was transported to the hospital for smoke inhalation.
