WASHINGTON (WSVN) — U.S. News & World Report announced their annual Best Colleges rankings for 2017, Tuesday, and the University of Miami took the number one spot for Florida schools, once again.

University of Miami is ranked 44 in the National Universities category, with an overall score of 63 out of 100. The university’s annual tuition and fees for the 2016-17 academic school year is $47,004.

Following “The U” is the University of Florida, which is ranked 50 in national universities with an overall score of 62 out of 100. The university’s annual in-state tuition and fees for the 2016-17 academic school year is $6,389. For out-of-state students, the annual tuition and fees is $28,666.

Schools ranked in the National Universities category are universities that offer a full range of undergraduate majors, plus master’s and Ph.D. programs. These schools are ranked according to their performance across a set of widely accepted indicators of excellence.

The U.S. News Best Colleges rankings focus on academic excellence and are published each year in hopes of helping students worldwide compare more than 1,800 schools based in the U.S.
