SOUTHWEST MIAMI-DADE, FLA. (WSVN) - Police have arrested two teenage suspects in connection to a stolen unmarked Miami-Dade Police car that was discovered dumped in a Southwest Miami-Dade canal.

According to Miami-Dade Police, a 15-year-old and a 19-year-old were arrested on Wednesday in connection to the theft of an unmarked Miami-Dade Police vehicle, a 2015, dark gray Dodge Charger, which was stolen last Friday.

The unmarked police vehicle was found one day later submerged in a canal located in the area of Southwest 42nd Street and 162nd Avenue.

Miami-Dade Police detectives analyzed fingerprints discovered on the door handle of the victim’s other private vehicle, which was also broken into, to gather the DNA of the possible suspects.

On Tuesday, the results turned out to be a match for one of the suspects. This discovery then led to the arrest of the second suspect, whom detectives have learned was attempting to sell a 9 mm Glock handgun.

Police said the two suspects were then interviewed, arrested and charged accordingly.
