LAUDERHILL, FLA. (WSVN) - A South Florida driver was taken to the hospital after, officials said, he was involved in several car wrecks in Sunrise, then crashed his pickup truck into a home in Lauderhill, Thursday afternoon.

Lauderhill and Sunrise police responded to the home, located along the 8600 block of Northwest 45th Court, at around 1:30 p.m.

According to investigators, the driver struck three vehicles along the 4400 block of Pine Island Road and fled the scene. A short distance later, his black Chevy Silverado slammed into the garage of the residence in Lauderhill.

Michelle Meck described the scene when the truck slammed into the house she was inside of. “Just glass started falling everywhere. I didn’t know what the heck happened,” she said. “I was just like, ‘Oh my God,’ and I was just shaken up from it.”

Her neighbor’s surveillance captured the truck as it raced across their yard moments before going straight inside the Lauderhill house.

Neighbor Edward Young said that he noticed the driver stopped in the middle of the road, but when he pulled up to check on him, the driver took off. “He looked like totally out of it,” Young said. “He didn’t say anything to me, he just gave my this glazed look and ran into the house.”

The driver was transported to Westside Regional Medical Center, where he is listed in stable condition.

Police are investigating the incidents as possible DUI cases. He could be facing multiple charges.

“Thank God where it happened, nothing caved in the house part,” Meck said. “I mean, I would have got hit by glass.”

Meck’s car, which was in the driveway, was impacted by the truck as well.

No one else was injured.
