FORT LAUDERDALE, FLA. (WSVN) - Crews are working to repair a water line break in the northbound lanes of Florida State Road A1A, in Fort Lauderdale, Monday.
According to Fort Lauderdale Police, northbound lanes near North Ocean Boulevard have been blocked due to a sink hole caused by a water main break on the roadway.
Northbound traffic is being diverted west onto Northeast 21st Street to Northeast 33rd Avenue and then north to Northeast 23rd Street, then east, back to A1A.
Both northbound lanes will remain closed from Northeast 21st Street to Northeast 23rd Street through the afternoon rush hour. The southbound lanes are moving as they normally would at this hour.
The rupture led officials to issue a boil water advisory for a small section of a nearby neighborhood. Those living between Northeast 23rd and 19th streets are advised to boil all water used for cooking, drinking, brushing teeth and washing dishes until further notice.
Repairs are expected to be completed this evening.
To avoid delays, motorists are advised to seek alternate routes.
