MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. (WSVN) — 7News received a tour of the renovations being undertaken at the Dolphins Stadium.

Renovations are underway and phase two is on track at the stadium of the Miami Dolphins. “We’re fully expecting to be ready, based on where we are with the schedule right now,” said Senior Vice President of Stadium Renovations Bill Senn.

The tour was part of an update to show off the state-of-the-art jumbotron scoreboards, as well as the planned shade canopy. “Having the shade canopy over 92 percent of our fans is going to be phenomenal,” Senn said. “As you know, with the summer heat, it makes a huge difference whether you’re in the shade or in direct sunlight.”

The tour was also aimed at dispelling rumors that renovations were not on schedule.

The Dolphins’ home pre-season game, on Aug. 25, will be played in Orlando. It was the NFL’s call to have Orlando go through a dry-run for the 2017 Pro Bowl.

The Dolphins’ final pre-season game, on Sept. 1, will be in the 65,000 seat stadium. “Everybody’s a naysayer at some point in time,” Senn said. “We will be there. I mean, we have 500 workers out here that are making a commitment to make it happen. We’ll be here, we will be ready — 24 hours a day, seven days a week. They didn’t take Memorial Day off.”

Once the 2016 season is over, Phase three will begin for the stadium. That is when they plan to renovate the two levels where Club and Suite level seats are. That will be ready for the 2017 season.
