MIAMI (WSVN) - A high-priced heist took place at a jewelry store in Brickell, early Tuesday morning.

According to Miami Police, officers arrived at the scene, just after the pair of thieves had broken into Brickell Jewelers, a jewelry store located in the Shops at Mary Brickell Village, along South Miami Avenue and Southwest Ninth Street.

Police said the thieves broke into the business through the window dressed all in black with ski masks over their heads. The two subjects are described as black males.

Surveillance video from inside the store captured the thieves’ attempts at breaking into the store, before managing to make their way inside, around 6 a.m. They were inside for a little more than 30 seconds but fled the scene with high-priced jewelry and watches.

7News spoke with Daniel Nissim, the store’s owner, who said these kinds of crimes are expected, especially considering where they are located. But, he added, he cannot afford to close down for the holiday season.

Cases were smashed in and broken glass was left everywhere. The thieves were in and out of the store in a minute.

“They did some research, and they figured out how to do it,” Nissim said. “They came through, quickly smashed two show cases, took some stuff and they ran.”

Police closed off the area as they investigated the robbery, Tuesday morning. The thieves had stolen thousands of dollars worth of watches and jewelry.

Nissim said the store will be back to normal in a few days.

“It’s horrible. It’s just a waste of time, especially right now with the holiday season,” said Nissim. “Our top goal is to prepare for Christmas and the sales for the holiday season, and right now all we can do is just figure out how to fix the mess.”

Miami Police have issued a Be On The Lookout order for a newer model, black Chevy Tahoe that fled the scene with the subjects inside.
