SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLA. (WSVN) - Police said a group of teens have been arrested, Thursday, after they allegedly robbed a couple who were walking on Sunny Isles Beach.

Sunny Isles Police said they got a call of an armed robbery on the beach, Thursday night, and arrived to find a group of teens running away, some even going into the bay. They were able to catch all five of the teens and return all of the couple’s property, but they’re still looking for a wedding ring that was taken.

The teens, all 16 or 17 years old, didn’t respond to questions from 7News as they were put in police cars, Friday.

“They used a firearm, robbed two victims that were on our beach,” Sunny Isles Police Detective Mitch Glansberg said, “perimeter was established, they got two subjects that were hiding on a yacht in the 300 block of Sunny Isles Boulevard, another two that went into the water and a fifth subject that was hiding in a yard.”

The couple, from Brazil, were still shaken from the incident, Friday. The husband spoke with 7News but did not want to show his face.

“They were like right on us. We were not really expecting that to happen,” he said.

The couple was able to get back almost all of their jewelry, cash and credit cards.

“I’m very happy, not only for the things, but for our lives. I think things like this can end pretty bad, right,” he said, “and I’m really happy for their work, for the police of Sunny Isles work.”

“Think about what you’re doing. You have your whole life in front of you,” Glansberg told the teenagers. “Think, you have a lot of choices, don’t make these type of choices.”

Police are still searching, Friday, for the woman’s wedding ring.

“I think there are other better ways to lead their lives for themselves and for their family,” the victim said.

All five teenagers were charged with armed robbery.
