MIAMI GARDENS, FLA. (WSVN) - A teen who was followed and targeted as she was walking home from school is speaking out, and her mother wants the attackers to get a lesson in the law.

Fifteen-year-old Chanaya Easley was attacked by two of her female classmates from Miami Carol City Senior High School in Miami Gardens on Thursday.

Punches were thrown and Easley could be seen face down in the dirt in a cell phone video. She then fought back.

“I was coming from school ’cause it was early release, and they had followed me from the store to the park,” Easley said. “And they had jumped me.”

Easley is a 10th grader at Carol City High. Easley and her mother, Zakiyyah Grier, spoke exclusively to 7News. She explained how she felt when she saw the video. “I was mad. I was belligerent because I didn’t know what to do at that point,” Grier said.

Easley said she doesn’t even know the girl who started the fight. “I don’t know her, but I see her in P.E.” she said. “She said I look at her a certain type of way.”

Instead of taking things into her own hands, the teen said she’s going to leave it up to a higher power. “I want to have another fight with her, but I’m just gonna let God handle it,” Easley said.

Grier said she has also put the fight in the hands of authorities and has reported the incident to both Miami Gardens Police and the school. She said she wants something done about the fight. “I want justice for what happened to my daughter,” Grier said.

Miami Gardens Police has confirmed that there is an open investigation into this case. The Miami-Dade School District has also said that Carol City High has recommended suspension for several of the students who allegedly attacked Easley.
