MIAMI (WSVN) - An international tech company looking to break the ice with new customers hosted a “Summer Snow Day” in Downtown Miami, Saturday afternoon.

Coolpad, a company known for low-cost, full-feature smartphones, introduced itself to the South Florida market in a very cool way. Thirty-two tons of snow were piled high at Bayside Marketplace, allowing children and their families to sled down a snow slide and play in a big snow pit.

Charlie Parke, the vice president of Coolpad, said the event also aims to raise awareness about pediatric health care. “We’re really excited to be able to partner with the City of Miami and the Children’s Health Foundation to bring a fun and exciting event to announce the entry of Coolpad brand into the U.S. market,” he said, “but more importantly, to celebrate the children of Miami and the importance of ensuring that all children have access to healthcare.”

The company also made a $5,000 donation to the Children’s Health Foundation.
