MIAMI (WSVN) - Health officials have lifted a swim advisory for beaches along the Rickenbacker causeway but advised it remains in effect around Jungle Island.
In a news release issued on Thursday, officials said water quality samples showed it is now safe to go in the water at beaches along the causeway, including Hobie/Windsurfer, Marine Stadium and MAST Academy. However, the advisory remains in effect around Jungle Island.
The announcement comes three days after overflow of wastewater from a pipe adjacent to the American Airlines Arena caused a sewage spill into the surrounding surface waters.
