VIRGINIA KEY, FLA. (WSVN) - A swimming advisory issued on Thursday Virginia Key’s Dog Beach has been lifted.

In a statement released Friday, the Florida Department of Health in Miami-Dade County, said, “Based on a satisfactory microbial water quality test result, the Florida Department of Health in Miami-Dade County is lifting the swimming advisory issued on September 1, 2016 for Dog Beach.”

Officials said water samples has shown higher-than-acceptable levels of bacteria, which could pose an increased risk of illness and infection.

Visitors to the area were urged not to enter the water, but now the water has been cleared to swim in once again.
