SOUTHWEST MIAMI-DADE, FLA. (WSVN) - A South Florida community came together to honor a student who recently died of cancer with a mural at his school, Friday.
Family members, students and volunteers gathered at Howard D. McMillan Middle School, in Southwest Miami-Dade, to paint the mural in memory of Alberto Hernandez.
His mother, Nelvis Izquierdo-Hernandez, thanked all of those who helped, and passed along words of encouragement to her son’s former classmates. “You guys are all amazing, one-of-a-kind, intelligent and talented,” she said. “My God, there’s no limit. You are bound to do great things, and you’re equipped to do great things.”
