CORAL GABLES, FLA. (WSVN) - A suspected home invader was caught and arrested, Monday afternoon, after trying to flee police at a Coral Gables home.

According to police, the Coral Gables homeowner called police when he arrived home and noticed a suspicious car outside his house, near Granada Boulevard and Mariana Avenue, Monday afternoon.

As the victim was on the phone with police, the suspected home invader, later identified as 36-year-old Cedric Gray Jr. walked out of the house, struck the victim with the bottom of a machete and attempted to run away on foot.

Coral Gables Police responded at around 3:56 p.m. and caught Gray inside a nearby house. Officials then noticed his car was the same one caught on surveillance camera during a burglary at another Coral Gables home.

Police later determined Gray acted alone. He is facing charges of armed burglary, grand theft and several other charges in relation to both incidents.

There is no word on whether anything was stolen from the house.
