WEST MIAMI-DADE, FLA. (WSVN) - Police are searching for a man who has been stealing packages from different houses in South Florida.

Police said the man follows delivery drivers and waits for them to make their drop-offs before he strikes. They also said he is responsible for at least three thefts in South Florida over the past two months.

“That seems to be happening a lot in South Florida,” said West Miami-Dade resident Alex Cerd.

Home surveillance footage released by Miami-Dade Police shows one incident. The Sept. 6 footage shows a red Nissan Altima pulling up to a home on Southwest 145th Avenue, near 14th Street, and the driver running out to steal the package from the front doorstep.

Aug. 19 surveillance video from a home on Southwest 69th Drive shows the same man in the same car attempting to steal another package. However, a neighbor is seen yelling at him before he is able to get away.

Homeowner Francisco Mirabal described how the subject would carry brochures as he approached the front door. “He’s getting brochures or something, like, if you were to open the door, he would just hand it to you,” said one man. “And when he did it, [the neighbor] was watching from his front, and once he came out, he yelled at him, he dropped them and he ran.”

“Any neighbor would do that about suspicious driving around,” said another man. “We have a neighborhood watch here, so everybody’s protecting each other.”

A man matching the same description was captured on surveillance video taking a package from a home along Southwest 170th Terrace, in Palmetto Bay. A red Nissan Altima is also seen parked on the street nearby.

Investigators said the man seen on camera may be responsible for additional burglaries. “It’s a bad thing, but it seems to happen in most decent neighborhoods,” said Cerd.

If you have any information on these thefts or the subject’s identity, call Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-TIPS. Remember, you can always remain anonymous, and you may be eligible for a $1,000 reward.
