Police: Sunrise homeowner shoots, kills burglar; 2 others in custody

SUNRISE, FLA. (WSVN) - A homeowner shot and killed one of three suspects who broke into his house in Sunrise, Monday morning, according to police.

7Skyforce HD hovered over the scene of the burglary, near 4380 N.W. 103rd Terrace, Monday morning. Shards of broken glass were seen from a broken sliding glass door in the backyard.

According to reports, the burglars tried to get inside that home, just before 11 a.m. However, a homeowner was inside and fired shots at the subjects, hitting one of them. Two suspects fled the area but were quickly apprehended by police and are now in custody.

Sunrise Police and Fire Rescue confirmed there were multiple suspects during the burglary.

Fire rescue crews said the suspect who was shot was transported by ground to Broward Health Medical Center with a gunshot wound. He died at the hospital.

Police have not confirmed the identities of the suspects.

The investigation remains ongoing.
