HOLLYWOOD, FLA. (WSVN) - A South Florida pastor who rode his bike across the country to raise money for Haiti has returned home.
Pastor Guy Melton of Oasis Church in Pembroke Pines completed a 3,200 mile bike ride across the United States, Saturday.
Crowds could be seen cheering him on at Charnow Park in Hollywood as he finished the two month long charity ride.
Melton was able to raise more than $500,000 for children and families in Haiti. “When that money ran out, I said, ‘What are we gonna do?’ and God tapped me on the shoulder and said, ‘You need to do another bike ride,’ ’cause I need to set the example, that’s the way I look at it. I want to be a model,” Melton said.
This is not the first time Melton has completed a task like this. On a 2011 bike ride, he raised $120,000.
Melton’s goal is to raise $1,000,000 for Haiti over the course of 15 years.
