BOYNTON BEACH, Fla. (WSVN) — A Palm Beach County man is behind bars after deputies said he impregnated an 11-year-old girl.
According to WPBF-TV, a Palm Beach County Sheriff’s deputy responded to a sexual battery case at Bethesda Hospital in Boynton Beach Wednesday night.
After hospital employees told the deputy the girl was pregnant, she identified 38-year-old Elvin Benitez-Lopez as the man who had been sexually assaulting her since she was 9 years old.
Benitez-Lopez told detectives he had a “moment of weakness” with the girl, but claimed he only assaulted her once.
He is charged with sexual battery and impregnation of a child. He is being held in the Palm Beach County jail without bond.
