OAKLAND PARK, FLA. (WSVN) - Three staff members at Northeast High School were transported to the hospital after a special needs student became violently aggressive, according to a spokesperson for the school.

Oakland Park Fire Rescue crews and Broward Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to the school, located near Northeast 56th Street and Sixth Avenue, at around 11:15 a.m., Friday.

Officials said a teacher and two aides suffered minor injuries and were transported to Broward Health Imperial Point as a precaution.

Students and parents outside of the school expressed concern for the teachers that were injured.

“Well, I mean, maybe they should just take better precautions when dealing with the special needs kids,” student Hunter Magee said.

“That’s so sad,” student Trinity Baxter said. “I hope the teachers are OK.”

“That’s just crazy,” student Jailyn Wilks said.

“I hope they get better,” parent Johnny Ford said. “Hopefully, they didn’t get injured too bad as well.”

According to the district, the student was not arrested and will be disciplined according to the school’s rules.
