MIAMI (WSVN) - Members of a local movement are requesting that American Airlines stop flying into Cuba.
The Democracy Movement started a picket line near the Freedom Tower, Saturday.
They called for the airline to not comply with a Cuban Government policy that bans Cuban-born pilots who came to the United States from flying into the island.
“Unfortunately, there are policies and laws in Cuba that discriminate against their own nationals, and American Airlines has adhered to those policies,” said Raul Sanchez of the Democracy Movement.
American Airlines — along with several other carriers — recently began offering flights to Cuba as part of the change in relations between that country and the United States.
