MIAMI (WSVN) - A commemorative procession was held for a former Miami Police Chief, Friday.

Chief John Timoney was laid to rest Friday, and hundreds of police officers, in an impressive show of force, took to the streets of Downtown Miami to salute him one last time.

Police cars escorted the funeral car while a horse with no rider strolled behind.

Timoney was well known to be the “cops’ cop.”

He rose through the ranks first at the New York City Police Department and then in Philadelphia before leading Miami Police from 2003 to 2010.
