MIAMI (WSVN) - Miami Police arrested a former Uber driver, Tuesday, for allegedly delivering narcotics in Coconut Grove.

According to police, Coconut Grove units were conducting an anti-gun violence operation and received information of someone delivering drugs.

Officials took 39-year-old Ilitch Muñoz into custody for the sale of cocaine at the Quick Stop on Grand Avenue in Coconut Grove. Police also found a handgun on Muñoz.

Uber officials told 7News that Munoz was not using Uber during the incident and was using his vehicle on personal time. Although he was listed as an Uber driver, he had only used Uber once in the past four months. “We’ve removed him from the platform so we he won’t be able to use it in the future,” a Uber spokesperson said.

Muñoz was later transported to Miami-Dade County Jail.
