DANIA BEACH, FLA. (WSVN) - One man is in custody, after allegedly shooting at a tow truck driver along Interstate 95, early Thursday morning.

Hollywood and Miami-Dade Police responded to a call of a pursuit and shots fired along the northbound lanes of I-95, right before the Griffin Road exit in Dania Beach.

According to tow truck driver Colby Gonzales, it all started when he went to a house in Northeast Miami-Dade to repossess a car. Gonzales said he stopped at a nearby gas station to make sure the car was secured, and shortly after getting back on the road he noticed gunshots coming from a black Hummer.

“I was coming out, getting on I-95 to go north, gentleman started shooting at me,” said Gonzales, “and I called the police, didn’t stop and kept going until the cops caught up with me.”

The shooter, 31-year-old Max Kenneth Dieuveil, managed to hit the side of the tow truck. However, Gonzales, who is a father of two, was not injured and said he is just lucky to be alive. “Craziest moment of my life right now.”

Hollywood Police pursued Dieuveil all the way to Dania Beach and was detained along the northbound lanes of I-95, near the Griffin Road exit. Police then turned him over to Miami-Dade Police.

“I think he was just blasting and just letting go of his gun because he wanted to,” said Gonzales, “and now he’s going to jail over a 2006 Nissan Altima.”

Thursday, surveillance footage surfaced from a nearby business that officials believe showed the Hummer approaching the tow truck.

Gonzales’ wife said she’s shaken up by the events and is now scared for her husband’s life. “Thank God he’s OK, you know. Nothing happened to him,” she said. “It’s really ridiculous how somebody could try to shoot you or try to hurt you for a car. It’s just a vehicle, you know … this person could have taken my husband and could have taken you know, my kids’ father.”

Dieuveil is being interviewed and his charges are pending. The tow truck driver was not injured.
