MIAMI (WSVN) - Police are searching for man after, they said, he escaped police custody in a Miami neighborhood, Thursday.

According to officials, the subject was along the 3900 block of Northeast First Avenue when he ran from a corrections officer.

A spokesperson for Miami-Dade Corrections said the subject was wearing an ankle bracelet that he somehow removed.

Miami-Dade Corrections is assisting Miami Police in the search. Officials said the inmate was on monitor release, meaning he was being monitored in the community when he fled.

If you see anything suspicious in the area, you are asked to call police.
