MIAMI GARDENS, FLA. (WSVN) - Police are investigating after two parked vehicles caught fire outside of a Miami Gardens home.

Miami-Dade Fire Rescue responded to the scene along Northwest 27th Avenue and 169th Terrace, at around 3 a.m., Tuesday.

7News cameras captured a mini van and a truck behind it fully engulfed in flames, just feet away from the home of a family of five.

“We were all sleeping, and my little sister, she’s 6 years old, she woke up, and she was telling my mom how she saw spiders, and my mom was like, ‘Oh, no, no, just come back to bed, whatever, it’s fine you just had a nightmare,'” said Brenda Rojo. “Maybe like 10 minutes later she heard like an explosion, so she tells my dad to wake up, maybe someone is trying to get in the door or something, so my dad wakes up and he saw the fire.”

According to officials, firefighters were able to prevent the flames from spreading to the home and the cars next door. However, the side of the home did sustain some smoke damage.

All family members were said to be OK.

“We were here all day and this car is a 2016, so I don’t think it was a mechanical problem, and the truck, that car, was not moved since yesterday, so it’s not like anything could’ve happened to the car,” said Rojo.

As of Tuesday afternoon, the cause of the fire is being investigated as possible arson.
