MIAMI BEACH, FLA. (WSVN) - Detectives are asking for the public’s help in identifying a man who, they said, sexually assaulted a woman before pointing a gun at her in a Miami Beach hotel room and may have also been responsible for other crimes in Miami-Dade and Broward counties.
Miami Beach Police officers were called to Mount Sinai Medical Center, located at 4300 Alton Road, to speak to the victim after the attack on Wednesday afternoon.
She told officers she had met the man on the beach and had exchanged numbers. Shortly after, she said, they agreed to meet at her room to have sex.
At some point, however, the woman changed her mind.
“The man did not want to use a condom. The victim refused, and that’s when the subject became irate,” said Miami Beach Police Officer Ernesto Rodriguez.
According to the police report, he then choked her and immobilized her arms.
“He attacked the victim. He choked her and then proceeded to sexually batter her,” said Rodriguez.
The victim claims she went to the bathroom and when she got out he pointed a gun at her.
“He was armed at the time. He’s a very dangerous man,” said Rodriguez.
Police said the victim was able to request help, but the man got away.
Authorities said the man is believed to stand between 5 feet 9 inches tall to 5 feet 11 inches tall, weighing 180 to 190 pounds, has long dreadlocks, gold teeth and tattoos on both of his arms.
Surveillance cameras captured the man walking past an ATM and down a hallway at the hotel wearing a dark green T-shirt and light colored pants.
The Miami Beach Police Department is not the only agency trying to find this man. Officials said they are working with Broward Sheriff’s Office deputies and Doral Police in their investigation due to the belief he is behind several other crimes.
BSO detectives released a surveillance still showing the man, this time wearing a light colored T-shirt.
Investigators believe he robbed two other victims at gunpoint in their communities.
“This man may be wanted in connection to armed robberies, not only by the Doral Police Department, but also by the Broward Sheriff’s Office,” said Rodriguez, “so, again, a very dangerous man that we need to locate, we need to get off the street.”
