MIAMI BEACH, FLA. (WSVN) - Police have arrested three men in connection to the robbery of a woman on Miami Beach last week.
According to an arrest affidavit, 32-year-old Greg Kinsey, 23-year-old Kenneth Rashard Willingham and their 16-year-old accomplice have been accused of robbing Nesli Kilic as she tried to open the front gate of an apartment building. “I was just putting the key, and then they grab my mouth, they closed my mouth, they hit me on the ground,” said Kilic.
Kilic sports bruises and scrapes from her scuffle. “They took my purse away, they started to run, and one of them came back at me and said, ‘Give me your keys as well,'” she said.
The robbery took place last Thursday, at her apartment building on Pennsylvania Avenue in Miami Beach.
Police have helped Kilic recover most of her items, Tuesday, including her $1,200 purse and her iPhone. She never got her car key back, but she had already had another made. “They found a purse with everything inside,” Kilic said. “Business catalogue, my little wallet inside with three credit cards, lipstick and sunglasses.”
Kilic said she feared for her life and she was all alone until her neighbor, Jamie Godinez, came to her assistance. Godinez said he heard the commotion and attempted to chase the robbers down. “I’m a father, I’m a brother, I’m a son, I’m a boyfriend. I kind of put myself in her dad’s shoes,” Godinez said.
Godinez was unable to catch the suspects. However, Miami Beach Police rushed to the scene and caught the men.
Peter Szabo’s cameras captured the police’s response. “When women cannot be safe on these streets, that to me is as bad as it can get,” he said.
“I didn’t want to close my eyes,” Kilic said. “I wanted to see their faces.”
The trio of suspected robbers now face charges of strong-arm robbery and resistance charges.
Kilic is simply grateful the crime wasn’t more violent. “You don’t know if they had a gun, or if they’re going to rape me,” she said.
Willingham appeared in bond court hours after his arrest.
