MIAMI (WSVN) - A South Florida park is getting a major clean up, expected to take place Wednesday.

Crews will replace up to a foot of soil at Miami’s Douglas Park. The soil was found to be contaminated in 2013.

They will also reconstruct the drainage system and re-pave the parking lot and walking paths.

City officials will be at the park for the improvements Wednesday but have not given an estimated date for when the park will reopen.

The park has been closed since 2013 due to the toxic soil.
