HALLANDALE BEACH, FLA. (WSVN) - An investigation is underway after, authorities said, an accidental gunshot caused an overnight rollover crash in Hallandale Beach.

It happened around 2:30 a.m., Wednesday, along the westbound lanes of Hallandale Beach Boulevard, just west of Interstate 95.

According to the Broward County Sheriff’s Office, the driver of a black Jetta was accidentally shot in the back. The shot caused the driver to lose control of the vehicle and crash into a semi-truck.

The driver of the car was transported to Memorial Regional Hospital in unknown condition. There were three other people in the car, who did not sustain any injuries.

Authorities said the passengers remained on scene and were cooperating. No arrests have been made.

7News was on scene as police removed a gun from the vehicle. At this point it is unknown, where in the car the gunshot came from, or who fired it off.

The car has since been towed from the scene.

Both east and westbound lanes of Hallandale Beach Boulevard were shut down for several hours. They have since been reopened.
