Port Charlotte, Florida (WBBH/CNN) — A Port Charlotte woman is counting her blessings after a very close call.

“I’m lucky to be here. That’s all I can tell you,” said Christina Theisen.

She was returning from a business trip in Broward County when the unexpected happened.

“It came right through and made an ungodly actual noise when it came through,” she recalled.

An aluminum boat paddle had fallen from a motor home traveling next to her and crashed into her windshield.

“I ducked down. It came crashing through the windshield,” she explained. “Hit the steering wheel, grazed my shoulder, hit the seat.”

That’s when she hit the brakes, grabbed the wheel and drove to safety.

“I pulled over, put the car in park, and just cried,” Theisen said.

After the accident, she made a quick video call to her dad. He advised she call 911, which she did.

After investigators cleared the scene, she immediately went home to hug her two kids.

“This time was a little bit more special because you realize how fortunate you are to hold them,” she said.

The Florida Highway Patrol said it had no new information on the driver of the motor home.

But Theisen said that’s all right; she’s just happy to live another day.
