MIAMI INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT, FLA. (WSVN) - An American Airlines flight was forced to land at Miami International Airport, Saturday night, about a half hour after, officials said, one of its tires blew up during takeoff.

According to an airline spokesperson, the pilot of Flight 88 headed to LaGuardia Airport in New York City suspected the aircraft blew a tire as it was departing MIA and decided to return to the airport. The pilot circled the airport for about 30 minutes to burn fuel in order to land safely.

No injuries were reported.

Airline officials confirmed the plane’s tire did blow up. The jetliner was evaluated upon landing.

The passengers were accommodated on the next plane to LaGuardia.
