KEY BISCAYNE, FLA. (WSVN) - Miami-Dade Police released new video of the Dec. 2 Key Biscayne home invasion as they look for the subject who terrorized the household’s nanny.

In the video released Thursday, the intruder is seen forcing the nanny through the living room of the house. Police said the man in the video held the nanny at gunpoint and choked her.

“The part that’s more disturbing is how brutal and how much of an animal this person was once he was there, when he grabbed this lady, attempted to choke her several times, he beat her,” said Miami-Dade Police Detective Dan Ferrin.

Police said the subject arrived to the house with a package, and they believe, he deceived the nanny by pretending to be a delivery man.

When inside, the man used zip ties to keep the nanny from fleeing. The video shows what appears to be the intruder punching the nanny several times.

The suspected home invader then ransacked the home, looking for valuables.

“He basically grabbed a lady that was very helpless at the time,” Ferrin said. “He overpowered her. He attempted to choke her on several occasions. It’s a very violent individual, and someone we need to get off the streets.”

According to neighbors, the nanny was hurt but was able to flee to a nearby daycare where a teacher answered the door. “I tried to help her. I called the police, what I have to do,” she said. “Called 911 and explained the situation and I explained also that I work with kids, and it’s very important that they arrive very soon.”

Witnesses took cell phone video when SWAT teams stormed the daycare, searching to the suspect. Neighboring schools were put on lockdown during that time.

“The little one, she said she was a little scared because they have to go to a room and wait for a while because there was a frightening danger,” said one woman by a nearby school.

Key Biscayne and Miami-Dade officials searched the area but were not able to find the suspect. “We do know that this individual is very dangerous. We know this individual will be willing to harm someone else,” Ferrin said.

Residents of the quiet neighborhood are now on edge after hearing about the robbery. “I was really concerned because we’ve never heard of such a thing here in Key Biscayne,” said Key Biscayne resident Monica Mutunao.

The nanny was taken to the hospital. “I see that she has a little bleeding because she explained to me, that I think he hit her,” the teacher said.

Meanwhile, police have yet to track down the invader. Sources told 7News that the nanny is still terrified because the suspect threatened to kill her.
