MIAMI (WSVN) - An insurance study released this week says Florida drivers are the second-best in the country. No, we’re not making this up.

Insurance company QuoteWizard said they reviewed traffic incidents in each state, including accidents, DUIs, speeding citations, moving violations, and fatalities.

Rhode Island took the number one spot, with Florida coming in at number two. It specified that good drivers in Hialeah, Miami, and Orlando helped the state’s high placement on the list. And although the Sunshine State had fewer citations than Rhode Island, QuoteWizard said the high number of fatalities on Florida’s roads brought the ranking down.

The company did say Florida would’ve ranked far lower had the high rate of uninsured motorists in the state been one of the factors the study considered. Nearly 24-percent of drivers in Florida do not have car insurance.

The study said California, Utah, and Virginia had the worst drivers in the country.
