RAMROD KEY, Fla. (WSVN) – A South Florida man was arrested after he allegedly removed the head of a shark during a fishing trip.

According to the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office, Angel Luis Velazquez was found with a bonnethead shark in a cooler, on a Ramrod Key Bridge in Monroe County, Wednesday.

The shark had been gutted and was without a head. When fishing, Florida law prohibits anyone to divide a shark before returning to land.

The 39-year-old has been charged with a second-degree misdemeanor.
