MIAMI BEACH, FLA. (WSVN) - Pepsi hosted a beach cleanup along the Julia Tuttle Causeway.
Employees with the soft drink manufacturer on Thursday morning cleared up to 500 pounds of trash from Miami Beach shores put there by the outer bands of Hurricane Ian.
Brian Ortiz, senior key account manager for the company, discussed the importance of this task.
“Extreme weather came upon us a couple weeks ago, and so, we are finding some things that are not natural or part of the ecosystem, so we are going to be picking that up,” he said.
The cleanup is part of Pepsi’s commitment to maintaining and keeping Miami Beach plastic free.
