MIAMI (WSVN) - Two Miami-based real estate twins facing several sex-related charges will make their first appearance in federal court.
Twin brothers, Alon and Oren Alexander are charged in two parallel state and federal cases.
In the state’s case, they are accused of luring and sexually assaulting multiple women in Miami. In the federal case, they are accused of sex trafficking multiple women, along with their older brother Tal Alexander.
“The victim told him to stop,” said Miami-Dade State Attorney Katherine Fernandez Rundle.
Officials in New York accuse the brothers of, “Using the promise of luxury experiences, travel and accommodations to lure and entice women to locations where they were then forcibly raped or sexually assaulted.”
“We’re at the point now where we’re over 52 women that have reported to us that they’ve been sexually assaulted,” said New York State Attorney Evan Torgan.
A federal judge denied Tal’s bond last week. He remains in federal custody.
A status hearing was held Thursday morning for the twins’ bond for the state charges they’re facing, but they did not appear for that hearing because they were transferred into federal custody.
The attorney for the brothers, Joel Denaro, notified the judge that the twins had been picked up for their transfer to the feds.
“Joel Denaro and Edward Odonnell on behalf of Oren and Alon Alexander,” said Denaro. “Your Honor, they’d be en route to Miami where they have to have their first appearance.”
7News spoke with the attorney, who said he’s hopeful they will be released after they ask for bond.
“We’re going to let it play out and we’re going to have a hearing and yes we are confident and they ought to be as well,” he said.
Last week, a judge agreed to release the twin brothers using their father’s home in Bal Harbour as collateral for the state charges they’re facing.
A cousin of the Alexanders’, turned himself into authorities Wednesday.
Ohad Fisherman, fresh off the plane from his honeymoon in Japan, walked hand in hand with his wife into the courthouse in Downtown Miami.
“To say this came out of the blue is an understatement,” said Fisherman’s attorney.
Fisherman, a real estate broker, is now facing sexual assault charges related to a 2016 New Year’s Eve incident involving Oren and Alon Alexander.
According to court documents, Fisherman held down the victim while the brothers took turns sexually assaulting her.
“This is a bondable offense,” said Miami-Dade County Circuit Court Judge Lody Jean.
Fisherman, paid his $25,000 bond and has $260,000 in collateral, guaranteed by his new mother-in-law and wife.
Prosecutors said he has not been named in the federal case but they do not know what the results of the FBI raids will bring.
“He’s a principal. He held the victim down while she was raped […] it did not seem like this was a first-time incident,” said an attorney.
Fisherman is still in custody and needs to be fitted for an ankle monitor before being released from jail either Thursday or Friday.
As for the twins, they’re in federal custody and are expecting to be transferred to New York soon.
Their collateral is a combined $5 million with their bail set at $25,000 each.
The Alexanders will appear before a federal judge sometime on Friday.
