MIAMI (WSVN) - Rescue crews have taken a man to the hospital after, police said, he was shot during a robbery in Miami’s Brickell neighborhood.
City of Miami Police units responded to a shooting in the area of 12th Street and Brickell Bay Drive, at around 5:30 p.m., Sunday.
Responding officers arrived to find the victim suffering from a gunshot wound to the hand.
Investigators said the victim, who is in his early 20s, was with a group of friends when someone approached him and demanded his jewelry. A brief struggle led to the victim being shot.
It remains unclear whether the subject or subjects were on foot or in a vehicle.
Paramedics with Miami Fire Rescue transported the patient to Jackson Memorial Hospital for treatment. He is expected to be OK.
Detectives talked to witnesses and examined surveillance video as they attempt to determine a motive.
