MIAMI (WSVN) - Police have arrested a woman suspected to have been driving under the influence when, they said, she struck a golf cart on the MacArthur Causeway, sending the man in the cart to the hospital and closing the causeway for hours.

According to City of Miami Police, the crash took place along the westbound lanes near Fountain Street in Miami, Saturday morning.

Investigators said the impact caused the male victim to be ejected from the golf cart.

Paramedics transported him to Jackson Memorial Hospital with severe head injuries. As of Saturday night, he was listed in critical condition.

Police have identified the driver as 20-year-old Paloma Guelfi. She is facing several DUI-related charges.
