NORTHWEST MIAMI-DADE, FLA. (WSVN) - A death investigation is underway in Northwest Miami-Dade after, police said, a man was found dead inside his car.

According to police, the incident unfolded at Northwest 28th Street and Northwest 37th Avenue, around 6:00 a.m., Tuesday.

According to sources, the incident originated in Miami Springs and has now escalated into a homicide investigation led by the Miami-Dade Police Department (MDPD).

“In this case, there is reason to believe that this person’s death was due to the actions of another person,” said Det. Andre Martin.

Homicide detectives are on the scene as the investigation unfolds. Their focus is on the silver Toyota SUV and the man found deceased inside of it.

“Doral PD received a call from concerned family members who had not heard from a loved one in a few hours,” said Martin. “Once officers arrived, they located the vehicle that appeared to be abandoned. Upon a little further investigation, they determined there was a deceased person within that vehicle.”

The car was located in a warehouse district east of the airport off of Northwest 37th Avenue and 28th Street.

“At this time, the method of death in this case is undetermined,” said the detective. “The medical examiner would be able to give us some information on how that occurred. We can tell you that the victim is a Hispanic male in his early 40s.”

Several investigators from multiple departments were spotted moving in and out of the crime scene throughout the day.

Officials have not yet been able to identify the victim.

Martin also mentioned that this crime may be potentially linked to a previous home invasion in Doral, but it remains unconfirmed as MDPD is actively working on gathering more information.
