(WSVN) - Students in Miami-Dade County Public Schools will be taking fewer tests.

The district announced, Wednesday, it will eliminate 12 tests previously given to public school students in third through eighth grade. The exams covered English, language arts and math.

The change comes as the School Board, parents and teachers try to reduce testing time and free up more time for instruction.
