MIAMI BEACH, FLA. (WSVN) - The Miami Beach Police Department teamed up with One Blood, Thursday, to help a Miami-Dade County police officer find a blood marrow donor for his son.

The officer’s 2-year-old son has leukemia and needs a transplant.

Everyone involved is hoping the search will have positive results.

“The match process is not over,” Miami Beach Police Officer Ernesto Rodriguez said. “We need to get as many people to get tested as possible to hopefully find a match for baby Alex. If you’re not a match for baby Alex, you may be a match for someone else. There’s so many people who are in need right now, and this is an example of different law enforcement agencies coming together for one common goal, and that is to save lives.”
