SWEETWATER, Fla. (WSVN) — Police are searching for the people responsible for robbing a Sweetwater store after they made multiple trips to it.

“If somebody comes to your store, cuts the wire of the alarm, you know that they gonna attempt to rob your store,” said David, an employee at Scorpion Drones.

David said he realized someone was doing just that minutes before closing up on Wednesday.

“We were trying to program the alarm, like normally,” he said. “We checked that we have a problem with one of the systems of the alarms — it wasn’t working.”

David went to their security cameras and saw two men, who had posed as customers, hacking into their surveillance.

“They were like looking around, just checking and asking about the drones,” he said. “They cut one of the wires of the sensors of the alarms, so they were trying to attempt to get into the store.”

Police responded, checked the cameras and saw the subjects in the act. Two hours later, at about 8 p.m., they returned to the store.

“Two guys come again to the store, they were checking the doors, checking the alarms, checking all the security system,” David said.

Police responded again, but the guys took off when the alarms rang. Then, at 11:30 p.m., Wednesday, the duo returned to the business near the Miami International Mall for a third time.

“They put the truck and they start hitting the back door until they broke it,” David said.

The subjects smashed the door multiple times, as seen in the surveillance. The store employee said the alarm forced them to run off. However, they didn’t get away empty-handed. “They leave, they took like two, three boxes but nothing too expensive,” David said.

The damage to the store is estimated to be about $7,000.
