FORT LAUDERDALE, FLA. (WSVN) - A somber salute was held for a dedicated Fort Lauderdale police officer on Friday morning.

Officers and firefighters gathered together to remember the life of 30-year-old Christopher Sheehan, a seven-year veteran of the police force.

The funeral service was held at the Broward Center for the Performing Arts in Fort Lauderdale in order to accommodate the large crowd.

Sheehan lost his life, Saturday, when he was hit in his Jeep on SR-7 and Wiles Road, in Coral Springs. His passenger, Fort Lauderdale firefighter Jacob Snowhite, was injured in the crash.
