MIAMI GARDENS, FLA. (WSVN) - One man was taken to the hospital after, police said, he was shot during an armed robbery of a college student in Miami Gardens, Saturday night.

Miami Gardens Police responded to the scene of the shooting at 15800 N.W. 42nd Ave., near the entrance of Florida Memorial University, just after 10 p.m.

According to investigators, one man robbed the male college student at gunpoint. At some point, the 23-year-old victim, who was not the student, was shot.

The victim was airlifted to Ryder Trauma Center. Officials said he was conscious and speaking.

Police indicated the shots were not fired on school property.

The investigation is ongoing.
